Blog Post 3

This week in class we read a poem for WID called "Schoolsville". The poem was really intesting to me and it made me think about what he was talking about. At first I thought I knew what he was talking about then as the poem went on I was a little confused with the last paragraphs. Were the students visiting him or were they asking for advice. Even though the poem confused me in the end I still enjoyed reading it.

  1. I really enjoyed this poem because it shows us how big of an affect teachers have in students lives. It also relates to Elbow's piece where he talks about teachers having power over students creative ability and being able to tell them what they do is either right or wrong.

  2. I think the poem was talking about how teachers impact the students lives considering the students still come back to visit years later. I think this is a completely different concept than what we are now talking about with teacherless classrooms.

  3. I think the poem was just him reflecting in his years of being a teacher. By the students asking I thought that it was just referencing how we never stop learning and how teachers never stop teaching.

  4. I think that the poem was about the teacher reflecting on his years of being a teacher and how effective he was in the classroom, and how well the students were prepared to learn for class with the help of the teacher. Nowadays, we are beginning to have teacherless classrooms were students teach themselves how to learn.
