This week we met with the high school students from forest view. While we met with them we talked about college readiness and participated in activities. My favorite activity was when we drew how we see a list of things and write in our day book about what we noticed in some of the pictures, I thought it was really funny how some student viewed college. Someone drew a picture of of a beer keg liked they see it as a place to party all of the time. I feel like if that person comes to college then they will see what college is really like, it may be fun but its also a lot of hard work. There is a lot more to life than partying, but overall I really enjoyed talking to the students and I wish we could do another activity with them.
When we walked around to look at everyone else's posters I noticed the beer bottle pictures and I feel like some of those students would be having a rude awakening. On the other hand, though, some of the students were really understanding of what college would be like and were really easy to talk to and make them relate to us in some aspects.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katie. I think that some of the students will realize how much work college is once they actually get here.
ReplyDeleteI liked getting to talk with the high school students and hear what their views of college where. I told them how I viewed college when I was in high school and then how it changed I think they thought it was interesting. I said that college is harder and easier at the same time it is confusing but i think i made since.
